How it works

1. Assemble each carrier: bolt the J upright and the lower cradle onto the base pad (wrench included).
2. Mount both carriers on your crossbars with the bolts, clamp plates and star knobs, following the included manual.
3. Lift the kayak into the J on its side and run both straps over the hull and under the crossbars, then tighten the cam buckles.
4. Add bow and stern tie-downs (not included) before you drive.

• Re-check the straps before every trip, after the first few miles and at every stop.
• Remove the carriers before car washes and low-clearance garages.

Do I need crossbars?
Yes. This kayak rack mounts on crossbars that are already on your car. Crossbars are not included, and it does not fit a bare roof.

Will it fit my crossbars?
It fits most round, square, oval and flat crossbars up to about 3.54 in wide x 1.5 in tall (9 x 3.8 cm). Please measure your bars before you order.

How many kayaks does it carry?
One. 1 pair (2 J-carriers) holds 1 kayak, canoe or paddle board on its side. For 2 kayaks you need 2 pairs.

Does it need assembly?
Yes. Each J upright and lower cradle bolt onto a base pad. The hardware, a wrench and a manual are included. The star knobs tighten by hand.
